CURTISS XF-87 Blackhawk

Afte the P-40, Curtiss could not sell a fighter design to save its soul - or the company. The XF-87 all weather fighter prototype was the last fighter designed by the company.

A large, 4 engined aircraft was needed to provide the range, radar and armament required. The net result was something to big to perform in the fighter role.

This is an Execuform kit and, as usual, the wings end up being too thick. Anigrand and Olymp now offer the plane in resin.

This comparison to the Sabre illustrates the large size of the last Curtiss fighter.
