NORTHROP F-89 Scorpion

The F-89 beat out the XF-87 as the long range, jet interceptor and survived into the 1960's as an operational aircraft.

Along with the Mighty Mouse rockets in the wingtip pods, later versions carried Falcon and Genie missiles. Genie missiles were armed with nuclear warheads.

This looks pretty good, doesn't it? In fact, it is the original Revell kit produced in the 1960's. It scales out at 1/77th, which is a bit small. But the large size of Scorpion let's the plane feel comfortable among the 1/72 scale crowd. And for a 1960's model, it is a very nice kit that goes together well and has engraved panel lines.
