DOUGLAS P-70

The P-70 was the first radar equipped night fighter in US service. It was a modified A-20 Havoc with a crew of two and a belly pod for the 20mm guns.
The nose of the aircraft was actually still glazed, though the Revell kit nose is done as a smooth, solid piece. I painted my front windows on in gloss black to contrast with the flat black of the airframe.

The P-70 was intended to serve until the P-61 became available.
